KryptoPad Editor's Review

KryptoPad is a simple application for encrypting and decrypting text files. Whenever you need to keep your text files safe, you can use this application to encrypt them on-the-fly. It supports large text files, so you can use it for encrypting pretty much any text file.

I tested the program by opening a 4 MB text file. I was sure that it would take a long time to encrypt the file, but I was amazed to see it doesn't. Truth is that at first I didn't know that an encryption key must be provided in order to make the encryption work. However, I found that out quickly and everything worked like a charm.

The user interface is split horizontally into two parts. Usually, you have the normal text file on top. The encrypted file's contents are displayed on the bottom. However, the program provides a button which you can click in order to swap these views. When opening a previously encrypted file remember to enter the same sequence of characters that you used when encrypting. If you don't do this, the encrypted file's contents are unreadable.

Pluses: The application works very fast.

Drawbacks / flaws: I would say that the price of this software is a bit high, considering what it does.

In conclusion: KryptoPad offers an easy and fast way of encrypting text files. I like this application.
